The Super Bowl LVII halftime show is shaping up to be one for the ages. Global superstar Usher recently dropped a trailer giving fans a glimpse into what we can expect when he takes the stage on February 12th in Glendale. If the trailer is any indication, it’s going to be an electrifying performance featuring many of Usher’s biggest hits from over his storied 33-year career.
Get Ready to Dance Your Heart Out!
The minute-long trailer shows Usher singing and dancing to snippets of smash hits like “Yeah!” (featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris), “OMG” (featuring will.i.am), and “Love in This Club” (featuring Young Jeezy). He’s grooving hard in an empty arena, backed up by a full marching band and fleet of dancers.
Knowing Usher and his reputation for jaw-dropping choreography and high-energy sets, we’re likely to see some next-level dance moves during his 12-minute halftime extravaganza. I hope he brings back some of that early 2000s breakdancing and flashy footwork he wowed us with in his younger days! And you know the man can still backflip and moonwalk with the best of them at his seasoned age of 44.
As Usher sings in the trailer while hitting the shoot dance, “Take that and rewind it back!” Oh don’t worry, Mr. Raymond – we’ll be replaying this halftime show for years to come!
Will Special Guests Join Him?
The trailer excites but also leaves me wondering…will Usher be performing completely solo or will he be bringing out any special guest stars? My dream halftime collaboration would be Usher teaming up with fellow R&B icon Alicia Keys for a moving rendition of “My Boo.” Or how epic would it be if he reunited with Lil Jon and Luda for a throwback performance of “Yeah!”?
But even if Usher goes it alone, I have no doubt he can command that stadium all by himself. From smooth slow jams to thumping club bangers, the crooner has enough beloved hits in his discography spanning nearly three decades to carry the performance. I can’t wait to sing along to every word!
The Most Extra Halftime Production Yet
If the musical entertainment wasn’t enough, reports say Usher’s halftime show will feature the most elaborate stage and production in Super Bowl history. Apparently he has something truly groundbreaking and unexpected in store in terms of special effects and design elements.
Could we see some high-flying acrobatics and aerial stuntwork? A moving stage that rotates or takes him from main stage to satellite stage? Holograms? With Usher’s flair for the theatrical, anything is possible! I’m picturing lasers, pyrotechnics, and mind-blowing video displays – basically a 12-minute Usher concert cranked up a hundred notches.
Halftime shows have undoubtedly become almost as big as (or some may argue, bigger than) the actual football game itself. And the NFL chose quite the superstar performer to help celebrate the big game’s return to Arizona for the fourth time. Millions are ready for the multi-talented Usher to make Super Bowl LVII a night to remember. February 12th can’t come soon enough! The countdown is on.
